Cervicalgia, otherwise known as cervicogenic headache, is a condition that affects both children and adults. It is a type of headache caused by tension in the muscles of the cervical spine and neck cervicogenic headache physiotherapy. Cervicalgia usually has no apparent cause or cure and is usually chronic. A major problem with this type of headache is that the symptoms can go from mild to severe with little to no objective treatment or cure. The physiotherapist will also conduct a series of tests to ensure that the person’s posture and movement are normal. The tests will include x-rays, MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging), and CT scans (functional imaging). X-rays will show any abnormalities in the cervical spine and neck area. MRIs and CT scans will reveal any evidence of any underlying brain or spinal abnormality.

Treatments can include the use of ice packs, massage, exercise, ultrasound, laser therapy, surgery, and special pillows or supports. A paper on this interesting phenomenon was recently published in the Journal of Neurology.
The study focused on the relationship between cervicogenic headaches and patients who have a first-degree relative with Alzheimer’s disease. Although no direct link has been established, this study has brought forth the interesting idea about the possibility of inhibiting or removing the link between cervicogenic headaches and the onset of Alzheimer’s disease in elderly patients. New Approach to Headache Treatment
Cervicogenic Headache is a rare, chronic primary headache that originates in the neck, head, or shoulders and is characterized by pain that is often coupled with weakness or numbness in either the limbs face, or shoulders. Cervicogenic Headache is typically classified as first-degree neck pain with cervicogenic trigger points that are located below the lumbar spine, right above the cervical spine, and left to right above the thoracic spine.
Cervicogenic headaches are not classified as primary headaches, since they are not caused by anatomy or function abnormalities in the head. Cervicogenic headache pain typically starts as a mild nuisance and can quickly develop into a severe and debilitating headache that interferes with daily activities.
Since the onset of this condition, the medical community has been confronted with the question of how the initial symptom of Cervical Guillain Barring (CGH) could lead to the development of a complex and chronic headache that require ongoing treatment. One theory that has been proposed is that Cervical Migraine is caused by abnormal activity of the intracranial pressure during brain development in infancy. Another hypothesis is that migraine occurs during reprograms of neurotransmitters during postsynaptic development in the developing nervous system.
In order to resolve the problem, neurologists have been exploring pharmacological approaches to control migraine in patients with Cervical Migraines. The objective of Cervical Migraine is to provide headache pain relief in patients who suffer from this condition and has been successfully achieved.
